UPP Renovation ConsultationU

Consultation Event – How to improve The Ultimate Picture Palace for everyone, and for the future?

Our historic cinema needs some improvements so that everybody can access our venue, grow audiences, and decrease our impact on the climate.

The cinema has been working with a team of professionals to identify how the cinema can be renovated to:

  • Reduce barriers for disabled and d/Deaf people
  • Improve comfort levels and viewing experience
  • Meet sustainability goals and reduce carbon footprint

A successful renovation project will help us be a commercially successful social enterprise and continue to be a much-loved community venue for everyone. As a community cinema an important part of this project is hearing from you – the local people who visit our cinema or who live nearby. We want to understand which of our current facilities you value and hear your feedback on our preliminary renovation plans.

You are invited to participate in a consultation event on Saturday 7th October to learn about our renovation project from Micaela Tuckwell (Executive Director of The UPP) and Stefanie Fischer (Philip Meadowcroft Architects), see preliminary plans & have your say.

Running order:
12pm Doors open
12.15pm Presentations by UPP management and project architect
12.55pm Q&A
1.15pm Feedback Collection

If you would like to attend, please book a free ticket here as spaces will be limited to the cinema’s capacity.

Plan your visit

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
