The future of the Ultimate Picture Palace is at risk.

To secure the cinema’s future, we must persuade our landlord, Oriel College, to grant the UPP a long-term lease. Without this security, the cinema cannot access the investment needed to improve accessibility, sustainability, and the audience experience.

Thousands of people are already supporting the campaign by signing the petition. But winning this campaign will require more than signatures.

We need to run a professional, sustained campaign to make the strongest possible case for the cinema’s future.

To do that, we must raise £50,000 to fund the essential campaign work needed over the coming year, including:

  • A freelance Campaign Manager
  • Professional legal advice
  • Strategic communications and PR support
  • Campaign design, research and materials

This budget is lean but realistic. While volunteers and supporters will play a huge role, professional support will give the campaign the best chance of success.

The good news is that UPP community shareholders have already donated £28,000, enabling us to launch the campaign.

Now we need the wider community to help us reach the remaining target.

Every donation — large or small — will help secure the cinema’s future.

All donations go into the ring-fenced Save The UPP Campaign Fund, which supports only the work needed to secure the cinema’s long-term tenancy.

If you love the UPP, please consider making a donation today.

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
