14-year-old Zeina and her family are amongst the last inhabitants of their besieged hometown of Damascus. When a missile rips a giant hole in their home, exposing them to the outside world, it also opens up an unimaginable world of possibility for Zeina. Now confronted with a life-or-death decision, they must grapple with the choice of whether to remain in their familiar yet perilous surroundings or to embark on a journey into the unknown. Delicately weaving lightness and magical-realism among heartbreaking desolation, Soudade Kaadan’s award-winning drama offers a powerful and moving perspective on the Syrian conflict.
