Enzo is 16, bright but struggling at school, and increasingly at odds with his wealthy, well-meaning family. Determined to find his own way, he takes on an apprenticeship at a construction site, but finds it hard to get a foothold, until a growing friendship with Vlad, a Ukrainian migrant worker, gives him a new sense of purpose. Over more than two decades, director Robin Campillo and Laurent Cantet worked side by side on six films, among them The Class, which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2008. When Cantet passed away from cancer in 2024, Campillo chose to honour his creative partner by bringing their final co-written screenplay to life. The result is a tender coming-of-age drama that balances social awareness with warmth and sensuality.
