Oxford Stand Up to Racism presents: Everybody to Kenmure Street + Q&A12A

Directed by Felipe Bustos Sierra | UK | 2025 | 1h 39m

In May 2021, a UK Home Office dawn raid triggers one of the most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory. In Pollokshields, Scotland’s most diverse neighbourhood, hundreds of residents rush to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbours. As word spread in the early morning of what was Eid celebrations for many locals, a handful of protestors swelled to hundreds of people, flooding Kenmure Street and making it impassable to the immigration enforcement van. The eight-hour stand-off made international headlines as the community organised itself in an extraordinary act of peaceful solidarity. BAFTA Award-winning filmmaker Felipe Bustos Sierra (Nae Pasaran) takes us right down to street level to show what happened next in his immersive and rousing documentary film.

This event is in partnership with Oxford Stand Up to Racism who will be hosting a post-screening Q&A.

Reviews

‘It’s an amazing story of a community triumph, showing how the nasty little habits of domineering policing can be countered by stubbornly British — and in this case, specifically Scottish — insistence on justice. It’s a morale-boosting film.’
