An Irish fortune hunter dreams of constructing an opera house in a secluded trading post within the Peruvian jungle. To secure the necessary funds, he ventures into the wilderness to tap into the wealth of the previously unexplored rubber territory. When the expedition encounters difficulties, the only viable solution is to haul their 300-ton steamboat over a mountainside. Renowned for its troubled production and real on-set struggles mirroring those depicted in the film, Herzog’s frenzied tale of capitalist obsession stands out as one of his most acclaimed and audacious works.

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
