ZonaSur Cinema Club presents: Rains Over Babel + Director Q&AUncertified 18+
Join us on Thursday July 28rd 2026 for a special night celebrating ZonaSur Cinema Club, in collaboration with UPP. This unique evening will blend Latin American film and conversation.
Rain Over Babel (Colombia, 2025), directed by Gala del Sol – one of the most original and vibrant Colombian films of recent years. We are proud to present this exceptional work, with support from the BFI Film Audience Network, awarding funds from the National Lottery. Between future and past, in a city where all boundaries blur, lies the club Babel. Every night, lost souls gamble with the devilish landlady La Flaca for more time to live.
Rain Over Babel takes us into a trópico-punk universe where life, death, desire, and fantasy come together in Babel, a mysterious bar-purgatory inhabited by lost souls, fantastic creatures, and unforgettable characters.
Rain Over Babel director Gala del Sol will be joining us on the night, to take part in a conversation with the audience and a Q&A session with Lorena Briscoe, curator of ZonaSur Cinema Club. Together, we’ll explore the film, its themes and production, and its presence within the wider constellation of Colombian film and culture.
ZonaSur Cinema Club
Since 2025 ZonaSur Cinema Club takes place monthly at Common Ground, Café and co-working space in Oxford, home to Curio Books + Culture created by Nick Hagan. Each edition features the screening of a short and feature film by Latin American directors, carefully curated by ZonaSur cinema. These screenings are accompanied by discussions led by experts and fully open to audience participation.

Plan your visit
Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
