However, his plans are thwarted when a student accuses him of inappropriate behaviour. The latest film by Turkish Palme d’Or winner Nuri Bilge Ceylan (Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, Winter Sleep) is a philosophical and novelistic character-driven exploration of self-interest and loneliness.

Reviews

‘Completely engrossing, consistently mind-expanding. Even those immune to marathon-length arthouse cinema should take a punt on this one.’
★★★★★
David Jenkins, Little White Lies

‘About Dry Grasses is as serious as you’d expect from Ceylan, but there’s also a self-reflective, playful angle to this one, and a seam of black humour that’s been missing from his recent films.’
★★★★
Dave Calhoun, Time Out
