Foe15

Directed by Garth Davis | Australia/UK/USA | 2023 | 1h 50m | Starring Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal, Aaron Pierre, Jalen Ong, Yesse Spence, Shamita Siva

Set in the near future, when corporate power and environmental degradation wreak havoc on the planet, a young married couple, Hen (Saoirse Ronan) and Junior (Paul Mescal), lead a solitary life on their remote farm. One fateful night, a stranger arrives at their door, informing them of Junior’s random selection to travel to an experimental space station orbiting Earth. Adapted from the acclaimed novel by Iain Reid and directed by award-winning filmmaker Garth Davis (Lion), this thought-provoking sci-fi raises questions about the rise of artificial intelligence and the impending environmental crisis.

Reviews

‘Mescal and Ronan both excel at sinking into themselves, with the latter’s irrepressible force of will squeezing against the walls of the musty farmhouse as if her life were a shoe five sizes too small.’
