Citizen Kane (35mm Presentation)U

Directed by Orson Welles | USA | 1941 | 1h 59m | Starring Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, Dorothy Comingore, Agnes Moorehead, Ruth Warrick

When a reporter is tasked with uncovering the meaning behind newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane’s final words, his investigation reveals the life of a complex man who rose from humble beginnings to extraordinary power. Directed by Welles at just 26, this debut feature remains one of cinema’s most influential works. Its bold innovations, from deep-focus cinematography and striking camera angles to its non-linear narrative, reshaped the language of film. Regularly cited as the greatest American debut ever made, Citizen Kane is both a compelling character study and a stirring reflection on ambition, wealth, and the corrosive nature of power.

One-off screening presented on 35mm film and introduced by film programmer Tom Jowett.
