Directed by Welles at just 26, this debut feature remains one of cinema’s most influential works. Its bold innovations, from deep-focus cinematography and striking camera angles to its non-linear narrative, reshaped the language of film. Regularly cited as the greatest American debut ever made, Citizen Kane is both a compelling character study and a stirring reflection on ambition, wealth, and the corrosive nature of power.

One-off screening presented on 35mm film and introduced by film programmer Tom Jowett.

We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
