Nosferatu15

Directed by Robert Eggars | USA | 2024 | 2h 12m | Starring Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin

In the 1830s, salesman Thomas Hutter journeys to Transylvania for a fateful encounter with a mysterious client. Meanwhile, back home, Hutter’s wife, Ellen, is plagued by haunting visions of death as the sinister vampire Count Orlok becomes dangerously infatuated with her. As Orlok’s shadow of evil spreads, it begins to consume the entire town. Acclaimed director Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse) breathes new life into one of cinema’s most iconic monsters with this atmospheric, Gothic reimagining of F.W. Murnau’s unholy 1922 classic. Nominated for 5 BAFTA Awards, including Best Cinematography.

Reviews

‘Nosferatu not only revitalises a classic monster, it reminds us why they matter at all.’
★★★★★
Clarisse Loughery, The Independent

‘What really separates Eggers’ Nosferatu from the flock is how deeply it explores the images and themes of vampire lore. There aren’t many Dracula films that give you so much to sink your teeth into.’
★★★★
Nicholas Barber, BBC
