Carmen, a middle-class woman in her forties, is overseeing renovations to the family’s beach house when the local priest asks her to take care of a political dissident he is secretly sheltering. Manuela Martelli’s directorial debut is a tensely fraught political thriller and unnerving portrayal of paranoia in 1970s Chile. Winner of Best Debut at the London Film Festival.
