Stand By Me15
In a small, woodsy Oregon town, a group of friends set out to find a missing teenager’s body. Wanting to be heroes in the eyes of their hometown, they embark on an unforgettable two-day trek that becomes a journey of self-discovery. Filmmaker Rob Reiner masterfully adapts Stephen King’s novella The Body, creating one of cinema’s definitive coming-of-age stories. Filled with humour and suspense, Stand By Me is a funny and aching film about friendship and growing up. Back in cinemas for its 40th anniversary.
Reviews
‘Stand by Me remains one of the loveliest and most devastating films ever made about the loss of childhood.’
★★★★★
Larushka Ivan-Zadeh, The Times
‘The resulting adventure — bizarre, mysterious and moving — is about lost youth and the recovery of innocence through writing and memory. It is also one of those vanishingly rare films where child actors have to carry almost the entire drama.’
★★★★★
Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
