Japanese Film Club presents: Shall We Dance?PG
Shohei Sugiyama (Koji Yakusho) seems to have it all: a high-paying job as an accountant, a beautiful home, a caring wife, and a daughter he loves dearly. Yet something still feels missing. One day, commuting on the train, he spots a beautiful woman staring wistfully out the window, and eventually decides to find her. His search leads him headfirst into the world of competitive ballroom dancing. Recently restored in 4K from the original negative, Masayuki Suo’s 1996 romantic comedy can now be seen on the big screen in all its sequin-clad, fox-trotting glory.
Reviews
‘Funny and poignant, this is entertainment in it’s kindest and swishiest form.’

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
