True Things15

Directed by Harry Wootliff | UK | 2021 | 1h 42m | Starring Ruth Wilson, Tom Burke, Hayley Squires, Elizabeth Rider

Unfulfilled by her job working in an office and deflated by the disappointments of dating, a young woman feels as if she is sleepwalking through life. Then one day, a cocky and complicated stranger enters her world and awakens her desire for change. Adapted from Deborah Kay Davies’s acclaimed novel, Harry Wootliff’s assured second feature deftly explores the line between infatuation and obsession.

Reviews

‘With great physical poise and precision, Wilson engages the audience on a visceral level, her deceptively low-key performance taking us deep inside her character’s dreams, desires and insecurities.’
★★★★
Mark Kermode, The Observer

‘Another strong addition to the growing sub-genre of stories about people whose lives go to hell when they get involved with Tom Burke.’
★★★★
David Ehrlich, IndieWire
