Young Mothers12A
At a state-run shelter for teenage mothers in Belgium, five young women learn to care for their newborns, navigate contact with adoptive families, and confront the complex legacies of their own difficult pasts. Acclaimed social-realist filmmakers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (Two Days, One Night) return with another deeply empathetic drama – an unflinching portrait of young people fighting to preserve their dignity in a world that often looks the other way.
🏆 Winner of Best Screenplay at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Reviews
‘There is such simplicity and clarity here, an honest apportioning of dignity and intelligence to everyone on screen: every scene and every character portrait is unforced and unembellished.’
★★★★★
Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
‘A great deal of mastery is present in the balancing of disparate storylines and the blending of contrasting emotional landscapes.’

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
