The People’s Emergency Briefing + Discussion12A

Directed by Marcus Jones | UK | 2026 | 50m (+ 30min Q&A)

In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought leading scientists and experts together in Westminster to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and influential decision-makers. That evidence now forms part of the public record. The next step is to take this urgent message nationwide through the People’s Emergency Briefing film – a new public-facing initiative designed to bring the findings directly to communities across the UK and encourage collective discussion on how to respond. Focused on transparency and public engagement around the climate and nature crisis, the film invites audiences to gather locally, hear the evidence, and explore solutions together alongside their MPs.

One-off screening for The Great Big Green Week 2026, introduced by Dr Jessica Upton and followed by a facilitated discussion with Dr Raia Prokhovnik.

Dr Raia Prokhovnik
Dr Prokhovnik has been part of the Oxfordshire Climate Cafes facilitators group for four years. Oxfordshire Climate Cafe holds climate cafes in Oxford every month, providing a gentle space for the expression of a range of feelings about the climate crisis. Now retired, Dr Prokhovnik’s background is as an academic in the field of political theory.

Dr Jessica Upton
Dr Upton lives in East Oxford and works as a veterinary surgeon and emergency foster carer. The effects of climate change have become increasingly obvious to her, and she has grown increasingly concerned about the crisis and the interconnected crises it will fuel. She takes the individual actions she can to reduce her personal carbon footprint, but believes that without governmental action to make the big changes needed, there won’t be sufficient change in time to stop the worst effects of global warming, effects that will be felt by her biological and foster children, as well as the pets she treats.
