The Great Movement15

Directed by Kiro Russo | Bolivia | 2022 | 1h 25m | Spanish w/ English subtitles | Starring Max Bautista Uchasara, Julio César Ticona, Israel Hurtado, Gustavo Milán Ticona

A young miner travels to the Bolivian capitol of La Paz to demand the reinstatement of his and fellow workers’ jobs. Not long after finding work at a local market, he suddenly falls ill to a mysterious ailment. Local medics can’t help, but a homeless witch doctor who lives deep in the forest offers to cure him. The winner of the Venice Film Festival’s Special Jury Prize, this mesmerising drama creates an atmosphere somewhere between nightmare and reality.

‘Packed to the gills with formal and thematic playfulness. A dark film, but a fun one too.’
David Jenkins, Little White Lies
