The Ants & the Grasshopper12A

Directed by Raj Patel & Zak Piper | Malawi | 2021 | 1h 14m

Traveling from her village in Malawi to California and the White House, a gifted farmer faces her biggest challenge yet; persuading Americans that climate change is real. Her journey takes her across all the divisions shaping the US as she speaks with climate skeptics and despairing farmers. This thoughtful documentary, ten years in the making, weaves together the most urgent themes of our times: climate change, gender and racial inequality, and the widening gap between the rich and the poor.

Reviews

‘As a film to show young people perhaps, or those just starting to question their thoughts about the climate crisis, this might be an effective consciousness raiser.’
Leslie Felperin, The Guardian
