Sister Midnight15

Directed by Karan Kandhari | India/UK | 2025 | 1h 47m | Hindi w/ English subtitles | Starring Radhika Apte, Ashok Pathak, Chhaya Kadam, Smita Tambe, Navya Sawant

Fresh from an arranged marriage, Uma moves into her husband’s cramped one-room home in Mumbai, only to find herself stuck in a stifling domestic routine. Determined to break free, she ventures out into the city, awakening new impulses and desires along the way. Karan Kandhari’s BAFTA-nominated feminist fable is darkly funny, wildly unpredictable, and set to an irresistible soundtrack.

★★★★
Hanna Flint, Time Out

‘Karan Kandhari’s film about a misanthropic newlywed giving into her feral impulses is an unpredictable, genre-bending delight.’
★★★★
Anton Bitel, Little White Lies
