Put Your Soul On Your Hand And Walk12A

Directed by Sepideh Farsi | France/Iran/Palestine | 2025 | 1h 53m | Arabic with English subtitles

Told through video calls between an Iranian filmmaker and Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassona, this documentary offers an intimate window into life under siege in Gaza. Just one day after the film was selected for the Cannes Film Festival, Fatma was tragically killed in an airstrike on her home. Blending raw immediacy with profound humanity, the film captures the everyday realities of a generation trapped in a cycle of war and survival.

Reviews

When [Fatma Hassona appears on the phone], the talk is of bombs, snipers, recently killed neighbours and relations. But also the stuff of life: coffee, her choice of hijab, poetry, optimism. Again and again, her grin fills the screen.’
★★★★
Danny Leigh, The FT

‘It’s the audacious austerity of Farsi’s film-making that really makes the material sing.’
★★★★
Leslie Felperin, The Guardian
