Priscilla15

Directed by Sofia Coppola | USA | 2023 | 1h 53m | Starring Cailee Spaeny, Jacob Elordi, Ari Cohen, Dagmara Dominczyk, Tim Post

When teenager Priscilla Beaulieu first met rock ‘n’ roll sensation Elvis Presley on a West German army base, little did she know that their encounter would kick off a whirlwind of love affair. From that moment to their days on the dream-world Graceland estate, their marriage was a constant source of public intrigue, becoming a near mythic tale of misty-eyed American romance. Or so it seemed. Faithfully adapting Priscilla’s own memoir, and anchored by Cailee Spaeny’s award-winning performance, director Sofia Coppola (Lost In Translation, The Virgin Suicides) presents a sensitive character study of desire, loneliness, and fame.

Our screenings of Friday 26th (8.45pm) and Saturday 27th (6pm) will be presented on 35mm film.

Reviews

‘Coppola, as always, goes her own way – subtle and sensational. A lilting love story, dark and deep and clear-eyed.’
★★★★★
Hannah Strong, Little White Lies

‘Unafraid of shattering rose-tinted glasses, Coppola’s film is fierce in its subtlety, relying on Spaeney’s breathtaking performance and the inherent tragedy of Priscilla’s story to deliver a film that’s equal parts beautiful and heartbreaking.’
★★★★
Lauren J. Coates, The AV Club
