Primetime15

Directed by Lance Oppenheim | USA | 2025 | 1h 49m | Starring Robert Pattinson, Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Phoebe Bridgers

In 2006, reality TV show To Catch a Predator is a hit on US television. Its methods are unconventional, but the ratings are strong, and when the network moves the show to a primetime slot, host Chris Hansen (Robert Pattinson) and his production team are under pressure to hold on to their audience. To do that, they start taking bigger risks, and the show’s methods are pushed further than before. An absorbing and disturbing narrative feature debut from documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim (You Can See Everything).

Reviews

‘Inspired by a 2007 magazine article about the series’ grisly conclusion the previous year, it is the best and nastiest film of its type since 2014’s Nightcrawler: it leaves its audience simultaneously appalled and thrilled, and thereby grubbily complicit.’
★★★★★
Robbie Collin, The Telegraph

‘The key could be that Pattinson never asks us to sympathise with the character. In fact, he seems happy for us to loathe him. But it’s a pleasure to watch him, anyway. This is the best performance yet from the most intriguing actor of his generation.’
★★★★★
Nicholas Barber, BBC
