Odyssey 2024 Presents: Lust, Caution18
During the World War II era, a young woman, Wang Jiazhi, gets swept up in a dangerous game of emotional intrigue with a powerful political figure, Mr. Yee. The story is set in Hong Kong in 1938 and in Shanghai in 1942, when the city was occupied by the Imperial Japanese Army and ruled by the puppet government. A group of students from The University of Hong Kong plot to assassinate Mr. Yee, a high-ranking special agent and recruiter working for the puppet government, by luring him into the abyss of passion. Will she succeed?
‘A beautifully rendered, long, drawn-out but ultimately very satisfying story of betrayal and revenge in an uneasy setting of wartime paranoia.’
Damon Wise, Empire Magazine
‘For his sheer muscular verve and ambition, Lee deserves a standing ovation.’
Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
