Missnoma Women’s DJ Collective presents: EXTENDED PLAY

The Oxford-based women’s DJ collective MISSNOMA, is joining forces with the UPP cinema to hold a unique listening-room style session as part of the on-going campaign to ‘Save the UPP’. The collective have curated a selection of three of community-minded artists, DJs, and selectors from near and afar, namely Zahra Haji Fath Ali Tehrani, Lily London, and Martha. We invite you to join us for this first-of-its-kind collective listening experience staged within Oxford’s oldest independent cinema. Expect to be guided by our speakers as they each take us through a narrated musical deep dive, centred around the concept of ‘storytelling through records’. The event will be powered by Oxford-based FLOW soundsystem.

Ticket types include tiered pricing: £10 standard ticket and £15 supporter ticket–for those who feel inclined to support our work, and who are in a position to do so.

Speaker Bios:

Martha is a DJ and broadcaster from South London with roots in community radio and documentary making. Carefully curated and deeply informed, Martha’s radio shows on BBC Radio 1 and NTS trace the evolving landscape of the underground electronic music scene, platforming grassroots and emerging artists, clubs and communities, and always spotlighting women in music. Martha’s shows bring into focus those sounds at the cutting edge, as well as the histories and cultures that shaped them. Martha’s DJ sets combine the intricate storytelling of her radio shows with a deep appreciation for club spaces, exploring the intersections of UKG, 140, techno, jungle and beyond. Beyond radio, Martha’s time is spent nurturing Tempo, a group she established in 2018 that aims to support the mental and physical wellbeing of London’s music community through running and movement.

Lily London is a curator, record collector, and nightlife enthusiast, firmly rooted in rhythm and raised by the underground. Lily blends a collection around jazz, breaks, funk and jungle, creating genre-fluid sets that nod to London but takes her taste from the worldwide circuit. A long-standing community radio host, Lily is also known for hosting festival stages, promoting events and programming venues, and most recently has released music featuring her vocals on Interlink Records. Lily is a passionate advocate for London’s nightlife, sharing research around the city and its rich nightlife history, notably in her recent role as a member of London’s first Nightlife Taskforce. Her work is grounded in proper musical selection, community, amplifying voices from the margins and celebrating subcultures.

Zahra Haji Fath Ali Tehrani is an Iranian-Irish composer and multi-instrumentalist whose music explores the emotional terrains of intimacy, memory, and belonging through experimental sound. Based in Oxford and rooted in both Irish and Iranian heritage, Zahra creates genre-defying compositions that blend lo-fi jazz punk, shoe-gaze, and folk influences into raw, contemporary expressions of identity and queerness. Zahra is the director of Young Women’s Music Project (YWMP), an Oxford-based charity that provides a supportive space for young people. Zahra has pioneered a Safer Spaces policy in collaboration with young people, to disrupt the status quo of grassroots gig-going culture. This policy is now in place at the Nest, an inclusive music space centring young women, trans and non-binary people, run by YWMP.

MISSNOMA (@_missnoma) is an Oxford-based women’s DJ collective, established in 2025. Working in collaboration with community-run event spaces, we host intimate club nights in the city. The collective is centred around an ethos of platforming female-identifying artists while working to create a more inclusive dancefloor in the city.
