Matilda the MusicalPG

Directed by Matthew Warchus | UK/USA | 2022 | 1h 57m | Starring Alisha Weir, Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough

Matilda Wormwood is a little girl with big curiosity, a sharp mind and a vivid imagination — and the worst parents in the world. While her parents content themselves with trash TV, she loses herself in the pages of her beloved books. Her love for reading is actively encouraged by her inspirational teacher, Miss Honey, but villainous headteacher Miss Trunchbull has other ideas. Adapted from Roald Dahl’s story as well as the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical, this family-friendly musical feast is filled with catchy songs and great performances.

Reviews

‘Faithful to both the surreal nature of the Roald Dahl story and the playfulness of the musical. Emma Thompson stands out, as always.’
★★★★
James Luxford, BBC

‘Whether for little kids or very big ones, this Matilda is fantastically fun. Great songs, great performances and plenty of baddies to boo.’
