British colonial rule seized prime Kenyan tea-growing land still supplying the global market today. As a Kenyan journalist investigates a legal battle over stolen ancestral land, buried secrets surface, along with ongoing abuses on plantations run by multinational corporations. Shot against Kenya’s landscape, Kikuyu Land is a stunningly cinematic reckoning with a legacy that refuses to stay buried. It premiered in competition at Sundance 2026, since travelling to over 40 festivals including Sheffield Doc Fest and CPH:DOX.

This screening is presented in partnership with Maona Art, and will be followed by a Q&A with the director Bea Wangodu and the primary film subject Nagana Mungai.

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
