Jesus Christ Superstar12A

Directed by Norman Jewison | USA | 1973 | 1h 46m | Starring Ted Neeley, Carl Anderson, Yvonne Elliman, Barry Dennen, Josh Mostel

The last days of Jesus Christ told from the perspective of his betrayer, Judas, performed as a camp 1970s hippie-aesthetic rock-opera? Praise be! Adapted from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Broadway show and with a screenplay by Melvyn Bragg, this stylish and unquestionably oddball musical will leave you praying for more.

Reviews

‘A truly great rock record, and a fantastic movie—one that deserves to be pulled off the shelf of pop-cultural history, dusted off, and listened to again.’
Todd Hanson, The AV Club
