Femme18

Directed by Sam H. Freeman & Ng Choon Ping | UK | 2023 | 1h 39m | Starring George MacKay, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, John McCrea, Aaron Heffernan, Antonia Clarke

After a homophobic attack shatters his life and career as a drag performer, Jules is left haunted and angry. When he spots one of his attackers in a gay sauna months later, he sees a chance for revenge. Disguised and unrecognisable without his drag persona, Jules begins to infiltrate the man’s life, but what starts as retribution soon becomes something more complex. Adapted from their BAFTA-nominated short, directors Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping deliver a bold, stylish thriller exploring power, identity, and seduction.

UPDATE: this screening will no longer be introduced by Guardian film critic Ryan Gilbey as previously advertised. Apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience caused.

★★★★
Wendy Ide, The Observer

‘George MacKay and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett utterly thrill in this sexually charged, suspense-filled watch. Don’t let this one pass you by.’
★★★★
