A Year In A Field12A

Directed by Christopher Morris | UK | 2023 | 1h 26m

Standing proudly in the centre of a field in West Cornwall, the Longstone remains a silent witness to 4,000 years of tumultuous history. Captured between the Winter Solstices of 2020 and 2021, this meditative documentary reflects on the evolving landscape through the lens of an ancient standing stone. Presented as a counterpoint to the flashy, globe-trotting nature documentaries prevalent today, BAFTA-winning filmmaker Christopher Morris contemplates the beauty of life’s minutiae and the trajectory of climate change.

Reviews

‘Not the least of the documentary’s strengths is the realisation that such a world is as sustainable as an unnamed insect, fragility personified, getting its fill on a leaf.’
