Possession18

Directed by Andrzej Zulawski | France/Germany | 1981 | 2h 7m | Starring Isabelle Adjani, Sam Neill, Margit Carstensen, Heinz Bennent, Johanna Hofer

Anna (Isabelle Adjani) leaves her family without explanation. Her husband Mark (Sam Neill) sets out to find the truth, first suspecting another man is involved. But he soon uncovers stranger behaviour and more bizarre incidents, signs of something far beyond an affair. Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski’s psychological horror is surreal and hypnotic, banned on release in the UK, and powered by Adjani’s unhinged performance, which won her the best actress award at Cannes.
