Gummo (35mm Presentation)18
In a tornado-ravaged Ohio town, a loose collection of marginalised lives drift through moments of boredom, cruelty, and strange beauty. Directed by Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers), Gummo rejects conventional narrative in favour of a fragmented, immersive portrait of American decay. Controversial and divisive on release, it has since become a touchstone of transgressive, cult filmmaking.
Reviews
‘The unyielding and uncomfortable manner in which Gummo grapples with human diversity has also allowed it to linger long in the memory.’
David Jenkins, Little White Lies
‘Problematic, troubling, dangerous even, but breathtakingly original, and absolutely true to the times. The cutting edge doesn’t get any sharper than this.’
Tom Charity, Time Out

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
