Dead Man’s Wire15
In 1977, struggling Indianapolis businessman Tony Kiritsis storms the offices of the mortgage company he believes cheated him out of a lucrative land deal and takes mortgage broker Richard Hall hostage. Armed with a sawn-off shotgun connected to a “dead man’s switch,” Tony demands $5 million and a personal apology from the company’s CEO. Director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Elephant) transforms this strange and fascinating true story into a tense, darkly comic thriller, featuring captivating performances from Bill Skarsgård, Colman Domingo, and Al Pacino.
Reviews
With terrific chutzpah, black-comic flair and cool, cruel unsentimentality, screenwriter Austin Kolodney and director Gus Van Sant have made a true-crime suspense thriller… tapping into the spirit of both Sidney Lumet’s Dog Day Afternoon and Network.’
★★★★ Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
‘Beyond the guilty laughs, authentically beige ’70s period detail and news reportage aesthetic, there’s an offbeat anti-capitalist folk tale here that will strike a chord in the current moment.’
★★★★ Philip De Semlyen, Time Out

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
