Supporting the UPP: Small Changes to Ticket Prices

Oct 15, 2025 | News

From Friday 17th October, ticket prices at the UPP will change. This is our first increase in over two years and has been a carefully considered decision.

Like many cultural venues, we are facing rising costs across the board – from the energy bills that power our projector to the specialist care needed to maintain our Grade II-listed building. Over the past five years, our overheads have increased by 84%. We are absorbing as much of that rise as possible through fundraising, hires, and other income – but a small increase in ticket prices is now essential to keep Oxford’s only independent and community-owned cinema thriving.

What’s changing

  • Adult tickets will rise by between 40p and 90p depending on the ticket type.
  • The online booking fee will increase from 75p to £1.20.

What’s staying the same

  • Midweek matinees remain our lowest-priced screenings.
  • Parent + Baby (£6) and Kids Kino Film Club (£6) tickets are unchanged.
  • UPP Annual Members continue to save £2 on every ticket, plus enjoy our popular £6 Tuesdays.

Here’s our new pricing in full:

Ticket type Midweek Matinees Standard Peak (Friday evenings + weekends)
Adult £9.30 £10.90 £11.90
Concessions (Senior / Student / Claimant) £8.00 £9.50 £10.50
UPP Annual Members £2 off above prices £2 off above prices £2 off above prices
15-25 Members £5.00 £5.00 £7.00
Child (under-15s) £6.00 £6.00 £8.00
Family (2 adult. 2 child) £24.60 £31.50 £31.80

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
