Bob Dylan: Don’t Look Back15

Directed by D.A. Pennebaker | USA | 1967 | 1h 36m

Filmed during Bob Dylan’s 1963 tour of the UK, D.A. Pennebaker’s groundbreaking “rockumentary” offers an intimate and unfiltered look at the iconic folk artist at the height of his creative powers. Blending concert footage with candid moments in hotel rooms, tense exchanges with fans and journalists, and evolving interactions with fellow musicians, the film captures Dylan as he navigates a transformative and polarising period in his career—just before his bold shift toward rock music.

Watch Don’t Look Back as part of a double-feature alongside Sam Peckinpah’s Western (co-starring Dylan) Pat Garrett And Billy the Kid. Click here to buy tickets to the double-feature screening.

Reviews

‘It’s hard to say which is more riveting: scenes of Bob Dylan performing such classics as “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” or scenes in which Dylan unleashes his acid tongue on hapless reporters who just want a few good quotes.’
★★★★★
Joshua Rothkopf, Time Out

‘As an exercise in the unbelievably cool, DA Pennebaker’s documentary on Bob Dylan’s 1965 tour of England is unparalleled.’ |
★★★★
Kate Muir, The Times
