After spending her twenties living in London, Rona returns to her childhood home on the Orkney Islands. Saoirse Ronan delivers a powerful performance as a young alcoholic in recovery, anchoring Nora Fingscheidt’s moving adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s award-winning memoir.

Reviews

‘An exceptional performance from Saoirse Ronan powers this affecting, slow-moving drama about addiction and hope.’
★★★★
Anna Smith, Total Film

‘It’s an incredibly effective portrait of a reeling mind, the visual language of intrusive thoughts and rabbit holes. Flashbacks accumulate like the bottles on Rona’s floor.’
★★★★
Adrian Horton, The Guardian
