Master Gardener15

Directed by Paul Schrader | USA | 2022 | 1h 51m | Starring Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Quintessa Swindell, Eduardo Losan, Rick Cosnett

A meticulous gardener tends to the grounds of a beautiful estate owned by a wealthy dowager. When he’s asked to take on her troubled niece as an apprentice, his life is thrown into chaos as dark secrets from his past emerge. Legendary filmmaker Paul Schrader (Blue Collar, First Reformed) continues his late-career resurgence with this potent tale of a man tormented by the ghosts of history and a country reckoning with its own troubled past.

Reviews

‘This is Paul Schrader at his tenderest. Perhaps out of a desire to at last consummate redemption onscreen, or perhaps out of a mellowness acquired with age’
★★★★
Rafa Sales Ross, The Playlist

‘Schrader-heads will surely enjoy this as a sort of victory lap after his last two triumphs’
Robbie Collin, The Telegraph
