Taxi Driver18
Isolated Vietnam veteran Travis applies for a job as a taxi driver, hoping that the night-time work will alleviate his insomnia. Ferrying passengers around New York, he soon becomes disillusioned by people he meets, and takes it upon himself to rid the city of the corruption and sleaze he witnesses every day. With its iconic central performance by Robert De Niro and blistering screenplay by Paul Schrader, Martin Scorsese’s Palme d’Or-winning neo-noir paints a disturbing psychological portrait of post-Vietnam American society in decline.
Reviews
‘Martin Scorsese’s unflinching plunge into the darkest recesses of the human soul feels painfully relevant.’
★★★★★
Tom Huddlestone, Time Out
‘The bustling helter-skelter of Scorsese’s Mean Streets gives way to a measured, chilly calm, and cinematographer Michael Chapman ensures the Big Apple glistens with barely concealed menace.’

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
