Her Way18

Directed by Cécile Ducrocq | France | 2021 | 1h 37m | French w/ English subtitles | Starring Laure Calamy, Nissim Renard, Béatrice Facquer, Sam Louwyck

Marie, a French sex worker and activist, is determined to help her son to get into an esteemed cookery college. His application is accepted, but they cannot afford the expensive entrance fees. As Marie takes a risky job at a brothel to help raise the money, her relationship with her son becomes increasingly strained. Laure Calamy (Call My Agent!) gives a magnetic performance in this empathetic portrayal of the lives and experiences of modern day sex work.

Wendy Ide, The Observer

‘Essentially a mother-son survival drama, the film is also a snapshot of France in pain, and one that refuses a bandage.’
