WonkaPG

Directed by Paul King | UK/USA | 2023 | 1h 52m | Starring Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman, Hugh Grant, Sally Hawkins, Paterson Joseph

Based on the character at the centre of iconic children’s book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, Timothée Chalamet stars in this sweet spin on the story of Willy Wonka and how he became the world’s most famous chocolatier. Crafted by the creative duo behind the Paddington films, Paul King and Simon Farnaby, this family-friendly musical adventure brings the magic of Roald Dahl’s world to life on the big screen.

Reviews

‘It’s spectacular, imaginative, sweet-natured and funny.’
★★★★★
Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

‘Like any good chocolatier, King has obsessively focused on texture and flavour. And it’s those qualities – tuned to mass-market tastes, yet held in connoisseurish balance – that give his film its irresistible velvety sweetness.’
★★★★★
Robbie Collin, The Telegraph
