Under the Skin15

Directed by Jonathan Glazer | UK | 2013 | 1h 48m | Starring Scarlett Johansson, Adam Pearson, Jeremy McWilliams, Lynsey Taylor Mackay, Krystof Hádek

A mysterious woman roams the streets of Glasgow, seeking out solitary men and drawing them into an eerie, otherworldly trap. One by one, they vanish—seduced, stripped of their humanity, and lost forever. Blending hypnotic visuals with an unsettling soundscape, Oscar-winning filmmaker Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest) employs guerrilla filmmaking techniques to capture the city and its unsuspecting residents, offering a haunting exploration of an outsider’s perspective on an unfamiliar world.

Reviews

‘A story that plays as a kind of malarial dream, bathed in cold sweat and seeing hallucinations in every corner.’
★★★★★
Xan Brooks, The Guardian

‘Amid its scorching, fractured images, one certainty is brought into crisp focus. This is, very simply and straightforwardly, a masterpiece.’
★★★★★
Robbie Collin, The Telegraph
