There Is No Evil15

Directed by Mohammad Rasoulof | Iran | 2020 | 2h 31m | Persian w/ English subtitles | Starring Baran Rasoulof, Chile Shahi, Mohammad Seddighimehr

Winner of Best Film at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival, this urgent anthology tells four stories related to Iran’s death penalty. Part thriller, part romance, and part family drama, Iranian filmmaker Rasoulof depicts the devastating moral quandary and the psychological impacts of Iran’s attitude to crime and punishment.

‘The film’s as compassionate as it is unsettling, and as provocative as it is poignant.’
Roxana Hadadi, The AV Club

‘Bleakly matter-of-fact in approach, the film has a devastating cumulative power that grows with each story.’
Wendy Ide, The Observer
