The Rescue12A

Directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi | UK/USA | 2021 | 1h 47m | Starring Thanet Natisri, Jim Warny, Mikko Paasi

When twelve young football players and their coach were trapped by monsoon floods inside a cave in Thailand, the world watched and hoped for their safe return. Navigating four kilometres of flooded passageways, some barely wider than a person, the world’s most elite rescue teams entered a situation they had never trained for. With never-before-seen footage, the documentary reveals the incredible determination and teamwork required for this heroic edge-of-your-seat rescue mission.

Reviews

‘The mechanics of the operation boggle the mind, and in presenting them so elegantly, Vasarhelyi and Chin offer more edge-of-your-seat drama than most thrillers’
Jessica Kiang, The New York Times

‘A stunning documentary of bone-deep moral resonance and cinematic mastery that deserves to be experienced on the big screen.’
Tomris Laffly, Variety
