The Birdcage15

Directed by Mike Nichols | USA | 1995 | 1h 59m | Starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Dianne Wiest, Gene Hackman, Hank Azaria

A gay cabaret owner and his drag queen partner put up a false straight front so that their son can introduce them to his conservative soon-to-be in-laws. A remake of the 1978 French film La Cage aux Folles, Mike Nichols’ comedy stills stands out as a celebratory touchstone of queer cinema thanks to its charismatic performances and smartly written screenplay by Elaine May.
