Sky Peals12A

Directed by Moin Hussain | UK | 2023 | 1h 31m | Starring Faraz Ayub, Natalie Gavin, Claire Rushbrook, Simon Nagra, Steve Oram

In his mid-thirties, Adam leads a lonely, isolated life, working night shifts at a burger joint in a motorway service station. When his estranged father unexpectedly passes away, Adam embarks on a journey to understand the man he barely knew. Moin Hussain’s debut feature is an unconventional, sci-fi-tinged character study that thoughtfully explores the many facets of alienation in modern Britain in often surprising ways.

Reviews

‘An eerie tale of lost souls at the service station. Moin Hussain’s arresting debut feature about an alienated night-shift worker turns the humble service station into a nightmarish modern limbo.’
★★★★
Xan Brooks, The Guardian

‘It’s using the science fiction idea, in the way that science fiction should be used, which is to talk about things that are completely down to earth.’
Mark Kermode, The Take Podcast
