Sing Sing15

Directed by Greg Kwedar | USA | 2023 | 1h 46m | Starring Colman Domingo, Clarence Maclin, Sean San Jose, Paul Raci, Sharon Washington

In one of the world’s most notorious maximum-security prisons, a small group of inmates find meaning through participation in a theatre group. Among them is Divine G, wrongfully imprisoned and preparing for his clemency hearing while joining the group. Based on the real-life arts rehabilitation program at Sing Sing Correctional Facility, this moving drama features a powerful lead performance by Colman Domingo (Rustin) and serves as a tribute to the transformative power of art.

Our screening on Thursday 26th September will be introduced by Paul Humpherson, Founder and Director of Tap Social Movement. Tap Social is an award-winning social enterprise and brewery based in Oxford that helps transform the lives of prisoners and prison leavers through direct employment and advocacy.

Reviews

‘[Domingo and Raci’s] interplay flows naturally, but is underpinned by a robust, punchy wit – imagine The Shawshank Redemption directed by Mike Leigh.’
★★★★★
Robbie Collin, The Telegraph

‘Colman Domingo shines in this love letter to uncaged male vulnerability.’
★★★★
Whelan Barzey, Time Out
