Olive Gibbs: A Remarkable Woman12A
Not long ago, Olive Gibbs would have been familiar to everyone in Oxford. Born and bred in St Thomas’s, a working class area of the city, she was twice Lord Mayor of Oxford and the first woman chair of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Featuring interviews with family members, former colleagues, historians and local residents, this documentary tells the story of a brave and exceptional character, remembered for her outspoken passion, lively sense of humour, and spirited dedication to improving the lives of ordinary people.
A special FREE screening for Oxford Open Doors, introduced by the filmmakers and followed by a Q&A with historian Liz Woolley. Booking recommended.

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
