No Other Land15

Directed by Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor | Palestine | 2024 | 1h 32m | Arabic & Hebrew w/ English subtitles

For five years, Palestinian filmmaker Basel Adra has documented the displacement and destruction of his community in the southern West Bank. While filming, he meets Yuval, an Israeli journalist who offers his support. Despite their shared purpose, a complex relationship develops between them, marked by profound inequality: Basel lives under military occupation, while Yuval enjoys the freedom of an unrestricted life. This award-winning documentary, created by a Palestinian-Israeli collective of four young activists, is a powerful act of creative resistance in the pursuit of justice against apartheid.

Reviews

‘Powerful Israel-Palestine documentary is essential viewing…for its many images of despair, still offers a stirring vision for what could be – Israelis and Palestinians working together in the name of justice’
★★★★★
Adrian Horton, The Guardian

‘With exceptional lucidity, No Other Land reminds us of the human stakes of Israel’s resettlement of the West Bank, and that fighting for justice starts from the ground up.’
★★★★
Pat Brown, Slant Magazine
