Maona Presents: ShimoniCert-TBC
After spending seven years in prison, 35-year-old Geoffrey is released into the care of a Catholic priests’ compound in Shimoni, a quiet village in rural Kenya. But his newfound freedom is quickly overshadowed by fear when he spots a man with a distinctive patch of white hair. Geoffrey instantly recognizes him—the figure who has haunted his nightmares for decades. In her bold and gripping debut, editor-turned-writer-director Angela Wanjiku Wamai delves into the profound ways memory and emotion take hold of the body, revealing the devastating weight of silence.
This film was curated by Tatenda Jamera, as part of Stone Town, a strand of African Cinema by Maona Art.
